Suffolk County and Nassau Earn Wins in Region 15 Women's Soccer Semifinals And Will Face Each Other For Regional Title
NEW YORK – The two semifinal matches of the Region 15 Women's Soccer Tournament took place out on Long Island on Tuesday afternoon.
At Ammerman Campus Soccer Field in Selden, N.Y., top-seeded Suffolk County Community College defeated Borough of Manhattan Community College by a score of 8-0.
At Mitchel Athletic Complex in Garden City, N.Y., second-seeded Nassau Community College won a tight matchup over third-seeded Fashion Institute of Technology, 2-1. The match-winning goal was scored by Sloane Lipton in the 79thminute that broke a 1-1 tie. She also assisted on a goal scored by Angela Reyes back in the 40th minute that opened the scoring in the contest.
As a result, it will be the top two seeds playing each other for the Region 15 Championship on Saturday. It will be Nassau vs. Suffolk County at Mitchel Athletic Complex beginning at 1 p.m.
