Monroe - New Rochelle Men's Outdoor Track And Field Wraps Up Season At NJCAA Championships

Hutchinson, KS – The Monroe University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the 2025 NJCAA Division I Championships this weekend to close out the 2024-25 athletic calendar.
 
The Mustangs kicked off the trip with a ninth place finish from the 4x800m relay team of sophomore Siyabonga MbathaBanele Mkabela and Tinashe Bure, and freshman Modou Sanneh. The quartet crossed the finish line third in their section with a time of 7:38.20.
 
Sanneh then rounded out the day with a 21st place finish in the 400m. His time of 47.22 put Sanneh third in his heat to close out the opening day of the championships.
 
Friday brought multiple competitors to Hutchinson, with Mbatha kicking off the day with a 4:02.17 time in the 1500m, putting him in 23rd place overall.
 
In the 800m, Bure narrowly missed qualification for the finals with a ninth place finish — including second in his heat — with a time of 1:51.17. Sophomore Dwayne Fleming also finished second in his heat in the 200m, coming in 18th place with a time of 21.27.
 
Mkabela rounded out the individual competitors for the Mustangs with an 18th place finish in the steeplechase. The sophomore clocked in at 9:58.01.
 
The final event for Monroe came in the 4x400m relay as the quartet of freshman Anthony Barrett, Fleming, Bure and Sanneh clocked in at 3:14.02 and finished in 15th place.
