Monroe College Men's Cross Country Captures Region 15 Division I Championship At Queensborough Invitational

Bronx, New York—The Monroe Mustang men's cross country team won the NJCAA Region 15 Division I Championship Sunday afternoon at the Queensborough Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Freshman runner Tinashe Bure took the men's 8K race with a first-place finish out of 158 runners, clocking in at 27:12.00, marking his second straight meet victory. 

The Mustangs took four of the five top spots in the Men's 8K. Classmate Nkanyezi Ziqubu finished behind Bure in second with a time of 27:42.00, while sophomores Siyabonga Mbatha and Banele Mkabela came in after finishing third and fourth with times of 27:50.00 and 27:59.00.

The Mustangs finished second out of 21 teams with 62 points behind USMMA, one of the NCAA's best Men's Cross Country programs in Division III.
