New Orleans, Louisiana- After having three runners already qualify for the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Championships, the Monroe College Mustangs women's indoor track and field team came in at No. 22 in the US Track and Field And Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor Track & Field Ratings Index on Wednesday.
The Mustangs are off to an outstanding start this season, headlined by excellent individual performance last week at the Ramapo Opener at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory and two weeks ago at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invite at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Last week D'Jior Delisser became the third Mustang to qualify the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships when she smashed a personal-best distance in the long jump measured at 5.54 meters, which also set a new Monroe College indoor track and field record in the event.
The previous week, the Mustangs Quaycian Davis and Attoya Harvey became the program's first two qualifiers for the program for 2024 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Gainesville, Florida, at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center at Celebration Pointe.
Davis took first place overall in the field of 27 in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.81 seconds. Her time beat this year's NJCAA qualifying standard, earning Davis a spot in the event at the 2024 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, while Harvey also earned her way to the NJCAA Indoor Championships on Friday after her performance in the mile run, taking second out of 55 runners with a qualifying time of 5:07.38.
