New Orleans, LA – Sophomore Attoya Harvey and freshman Brinel Thomas of the Monroe University women's indoor track and field team have been awarded two 2025 NJCAA ITF Atlantic Region Women's Athlete of the Year awards, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday.
Harvey was awarded the Women's Track Athlete of the Year, while Thomas earned Women's Field Athlete of the Year. In addition to their recognition, head coach Shirvon Greene and assistant coach Shanique McKenzie-Daniel were awarded Atlantic Region women's head coach and women's assistant coach of the year, respectively.
Harvey, a two-year standout at Monroe, qualified for a region-high six events at nationals, ranking in the top spot in five of those events — 600m, 800m, 1000m, 4x400m, and distance medley relay. She also ranks top-10 nationally in four of the six events she qualified for.
Thomas broke onto the scene midway through the indoor season, but made an immediate impact. She dominated the long jump, ranking first in the event at 5.66m and 11th nationally. At nationals, Thomas placed sixth overall and earned All-American status in the process.
