Monroe University Women's Indoor Track and Field Team Has Strong Showing at NJCAA Championships

Lubbock, TX - The Monroe University women's indoor track and field team competed in the NJCAA Championships at the Sports Performance Center Ooer the Weekend:
Day One:
A pair of podium finishes defined a successful first day of the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships for the women's indoor track and field team at the Sports Performance Center on Friday.
The women's distance medley relay team earned fourth place overall to medal, while freshman Brinel Thomas placed sixth overall in the long jump to earn her podium placement. Both the relay team and Thomas earned All-American status for the NJCAA and USTFCCCA for their performances.
Additionally, sophomore Attoya Harvey advanced to the finals in the 600m.
Opening the weekend with an immediate impact, the team of freshmen Tanesia Gardiner and Joy Fridah Jepleting, and sophomores Kettia Ambrose and Harvey clocked in at 12:19.80 to take fourth place in the distance medley relay.
Thomas then joined the four relay participants as an All-American with a 5.74m jump in the long jump. The freshman's performance was an indoor personal-best.
Harvey ran in the first heat of the 600m and crossed the finish line at 1:35.69, producing the sixth-fastest time of the day to advance to Saturday's final.
Two Mustangs had great performances in both the 400m and 200m. Ambrose ran a personal-best time of 56.06 in the 400m, narrowly missing the final, before running another personal-best time in the 200m, clocking in at 24.69.
Freshman Kaliyah Jones continued her great stretch with a time of 57.67 in the 400m and a personal-best time of 25.63 in the 200m.
In the 800m, Gardiner ran a time of 2:22.95. Wrapping up the day in the 1000m, Harvey and Jepleting clocked in at 3:08.92 and 3:03.61, respectively.
Day Two:
Harvey earned a podium finish during day two of the 2025 NJCAA National Championships on Saturday, capping off a successful trip to Lubbock for the Mustangs. She placed eighth overall in the 600m final with a time of 1:36.19. Her performance gained her USTFCCCA All-American honors in the process.
Jepleting too had a busy, yet successful outing at the Sports Performance Center. She placed tenth overall in the mile with a time of 5:13.73.
The Mustangs wrapped up their weekend in the 4x400m relay. The team of Jones, Ambrose, Harvey and Jepleting combined to run a 3:50.76 in the event, which is a season-best for the quartet.
With the indoor season now completed, the Mustangs will take a few weeks off before kicking of the 2025 outdoor season with high expectations.
