Aaliyah Headley Earns NJCAA Cross Country Runner of the Week Accolade

CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 19, 2022 – Aaliyah Headley of the Monroe College Mustangs cross country team turned in an impressive performance on Saturday to earn the distinction of NJCAA Div. I Cross Country Women's Runner of the Week, as announced by the NJCAA on Wednesday. She earns this accolade just one week after men's team counterpart Karim Belmahdi took home the award.

Headley became the 2022 NJCAA Region 15 Div. I Champion on Saturday, as she was No. 1 in the region at Saturday's NJCAA Region 15 Div. I Championship Meet, which ran simultaneously with the SJNY Invitational. Headley ran a personal-best 5K time in Saturday's meet after crossing the finish line in 20:09.06, which earned her third place in the overall meet out of 145 total runners.
 
The Mustangs are on the road this weekend for their final meet of the regular season. They head down to Charlotte, N.C. to compete at the Johnson & Wales Wildcat Classic beginning at 5 p.m.
